TheÀneu Valleys, inside the Pallars Sobirà region (Lleida province)
It’s located at the head of the Noguera Pallaresa in the northernmost area of the Pallars Sobirà. Confined to the northern French department of Ariège, west to the Aran Valley, since 1922 connected by road from Port of Bonaigua, and the Boi Valley; east of the Cardos Valley and South with Llavorsí village. This sub-region is very well defined with a very strong historical personality, as witness on the Book of Privileges and ordinations of s. XIII-XV, or “Capbreu” of the Àneu Valleys of 1669.
From a tourist point of view, the Àneu Valleys offer visitors a range of possibilities almost endless: from winter sports, to hiking or just walking inside the National Park of Aigüestortes and Sant Maurici Lake and its surroundings, to the routes of the Romanesque, the Ecomuseum or the native cuisine in a unique setting where people still maintain the charm of an ancient tradition, farming and livestock, built with stone, wood and tile without having given up the progress and technology.
