TREKKING- (28) Clot Gran – Refugi Mataró – Coll de Bassiero – Estany Negre

The starting point is the broad esplanade of the “Clot Gran”. As a reference, you will see the first chair-lifts for skiers.At Peülla parking we must leave the vehicle and will be sign posted the excursion to the GerberValley. After 30 minutes walking we'll see “L’Estanyera del Gerber” (small lake), which is 2026 m high, and subsequently after 40 min, there is another small lake, and shortly afterwards we will see the great lake of Gerber in full dimension.

On the left of the lake Gerber there is a “zet” path on the mountain, which brings in about 20 min to the lake Ronyó (Kidney, the name comes from its shape). If we continue the way we’ll arrive in the refuge “Mataró” at the top of a granite cliff. Before Mataró we will find the lake “de l’illa (of the island), and we must keep on the left until entering into the glacial trough of the peak of Bassiero. We must take the wider channel that goes up and left, which leads to coll (neck) Bassiero.

From here we have the option to make the Peak of Bassiero in about 20 min. If we don’t, once at the coll (neck), we must go down until we find the lake, always following the course of water and we’ll get the lake “Negre de Cabanes” (black Cabanes). To return to the Gerdar, take the right side of the lake and find the way crossing a water channel. The path is properly marked
