With an area of 408.18 km² and 2,162 inhabitants, is located at the head of the Noguera Pallaresa, in the northernmost area of the Pallars Sobirà. Confined to the northern French department of Ariège, west to the Aran Valley, east of the Cardos Valley and South with Llavorsí village. |

LES FALLES D'ISIL. 23rd JUNE. HEREDITARY HOLIDAY OF NATIONAL INTEREST
In Isil, the night of Sant Joan is a magical night it is night of "falles". The only Falles of the Pirineu, declared Traditional Party of Interis National, in the year 1991 for the Generalitat de Catalunya.
At dusk, on top of the Faro, the fallaires wait patient for the signal, and stard to bring a path of fire down for the formant mountain.
After a long hour of slope the single girls and the smallest arrive at the village where they wait for them, that they join to the fallaires
They continue way in the church where three crosses will be made on the door of the cemetery, for giving homage to the ancientfallaires, asking for luck and warding off the bad spirits.
They appeal all the village until arrives to the Major square, where they leave their falla, beside the great Falla. The traditional dances, Dance of the Fallaires, start Flat Dance, La Bolangera... and party even well entered the dawn|morning.
It is a magical night, you can not lose it. We expect you!!!

L'Ecomuseu de les Valls d'Àneu
In June 1994 "The Ecomuseum of the Àneu Valleys", was opened to the public.(L´Ecomuseu de les valls d’Àneu).
Today, this institution is a living entity which starting with research, conservation, and reinstating the integral part of our heritage, wants to participate and act with the economic and social development of the Àneu valleys and, also, the rest of the Pallars.

Alt Pirineu Natural Park
The 1st of August 2003 the Government of the Generalitat de Catalunya approved the decree of declaration of the Alt Pirineu Natural Park that extends to the regions of Pallars Sobirà and Alt Urgell. |
